Former Friends star Jennifer Aniston is upset with her ex-boyfriend John Mayer because he spilled the beans on the details of their break up.

Aniston's friend revealed that she wanted to mend things with Mayer but his speaking to reporters has angered her.

Her friend was quoted as saying: "The fact that John has spoken out about dumping her has really upset her. She thought John was a gentleman, but a real gentleman wouldn't reveal that he dumped her - he would leave everyone wondering to save her face."

Mayer spoke to some paparazzi outside a gym in New York.

He said: "I ended a relationship to be alone because I don't want to waste anybody's time if something's not right. I don't waste people's time. Jennifer Aniston is the smartest, most sophisticated person I think I've ever met. It's about time somebody stands up for that girl. I don't want her to get trashed all the time. She's one of the most lovely people I've ever met in my life."
